Artist's statement

A native New Yorker, Hal David Zucker has worked as a motorcycle courier since 1975 in the greater NYC area. His occupation has enabled him to extensively photograph this massive city with the intent of capturing and contrasting its vast scope, unique nuances and basic realities. People, places, things, underscored by an elusive variant mystic are the focus. A portrayal of its multi-faceted unique identity the goal. The daily evolving pictorial diary of this legendary city covers just a few decades but attempts to link the past and present of NYC in order to uncover, expose and record the finite qualities that are inherently underlying as well as obvious to this alienating yet intimate metropolis. Cosmopolitan, mundane; A cultural pinnacle, estranged monster, paradoxical home all at the same instance, NYC is constantly seeking reconciliation and resolution to these antagonistic contradictions. The morphic molten elements of NYC's character that will remain, emerge and disappear shall be left to time's revalation. Here now this chronicle.
